Longest river in the world is called River Nile and it stretches up to 6,650 Kilometers or 4135 Miles from its source which is in Burundi and it drains an area of around 3,349,000 square kilometers. Research studies reveal that Nile has gradually changed its location over a period of several million years. Now it flows from mountains in the south towards the Mediterranean that happens in the North.
River Nile has been a source of water upon which the entire early civilization of man was dependent in the ancient times.
River Nile consists of two main tributaries i.e. the White Nile and the Blue Nile . The White Nile begins from the Great Lakes region in the East and Central Africa from Lake Victoria while the origin of the Blue Nile is the Ethiopian Lake Tana. The Blue Nile is famous for carrying a huge amount of fertile soil via the process of soil erosion into the Egypt and it turns out to be very beneficial for farming in Egypt. Khartoum in Sudan is the place where the two tributaries (Blue and White Nile) meet.
